Welcome to the Russian Violin Tradition. I am Lydia Sviatlovskaya, an expert violin teacher dedicated to passing on this rich musical heritage.
I hold a Master’s degree in Violin Performance from the Moscow Conservatory, one of the world’s most prestigious music institutions. My career includes performing with top orchestras in Russia and holding leading positions in Colorado, including the Colorado Ballet Orchestra, the Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and the Central City Opera Festival Orchestra.
Beyond teaching, I am an active performer giving recitals across the USA and Europe, and I frequently serve on the faculty of international music festivals. You can explore my performances and recordings on YouTube below:
Carmen Fantasy (by Pablo de Sarasate)
Salute d'Amour (by Edward Elgar)
Dance of Knights (by Sergei Prokofiev)
Summertime (by George Gershwin)

There is an old saying in our world: to achieve the best possible performance, you need an Italian violin, a French bow, and a Russian violinist. My mission is to provide you with that most essential and difficult part: the violinist.
While I am proud that many of my students go on to attend the nation's most prestigious music schools, I believe a strong foundation begins on day one. During over 30 years of teaching, I’ve refined a versatile methodology designed for all types of learners. My goal is to meet every student where they are—from young beginners to aspiring professionals—and provide the expert guidance needed to master the art of violin.
A short list of what you need for our meetings

Learning the violin is more than just fingerings and bowing; it is about understanding the language of music. We will explore music theory alongside performance, giving you the tools to truly understand and interpret the pieces you play. A curious "mood" and a desire to learn the "why" behind the music are your best assets.

To begin your journey, you will eventually need your own violin. However, it is perfectly fine if you do not have one for our first few meetings.

As the saying goes, "practice makes perfect." Consistent, thoughtful practice is the key to mastering the art of violin. My role is to provide the method, but your daily dedication at home is what will truly transform your playing and help you reach your musical goals.
